HS Search and saved codes
Search the Moroccan nomenclature, browse sections and chapters, read a code page, and build your library of saved codes.
HS Search gives direct access to the Moroccan customs tariff: full-text search, browsing of the tree, and one page per code bringing together the official description, duties, unit, notes and rulings. It is the verification tool that completes the assistant.
Searching
One bar for codes and for words
Search starts at 3 characters and takes either a fragment of a code (9403) or words from a description (wooden table). It returns at most 50 results, grouped into three blocks:
- Sections: the top-level divisions whose title matches.
- Chapters: matching chapters, marked (not covered) when the chapter is absent from the database.
- Codes and descriptions: the tariff lines themselves.
What improves results
- Search the material or the function rather than the trade name:
chairbeforegaming armchair. - Use the vocabulary of the nomenclature:
polyethylenerather thanplastic. - Cut back to one or two words when a long phrase returns nothing.
- Search by code fragment when you know the heading:
9403lists the heading and its subdivisions.
If the search returns nothing
- Check the number of digits; a code from another country may not exist in the Moroccan tariff.
- Drop plurals and qualifiers.
- Switch to browsing the tree, which is more reliable than keywords when the official vocabulary is unknown.
- Ask the HS Assistant for the right term, then search again with its wording.
Browsing the nomenclature
Below the search bar, the tree is walked top down: a section expands to show its chapters, a chapter shows its codes. The back button moves up one level.
The code, digit by digit

The first six digits are universal; beyond that, each country sets its own subdivisions. A 10-digit Moroccan code therefore has no direct equivalent in another national tariff, and a foreign 8- or 10-digit code does not transpose as it stands.
Reading a code page
Description and classification
The full official wording of the code. This is the text to hold against the product word for word: a condition or an exclusion buried in the description can change the classification on its own.
Import duties and unit
The duty rate and the unit of account for the tariff line. A dash means no value is recorded. These figures are there to estimate cost, never to pick a code.
Explanatory notes
References to the official notes attached to the code. They set out the scope and the exclusions, and they settle most hesitations between two neighbouring headings.
Classification rulings
The administrative classification rulings tied to the code: precedents, and useful support for a declared position.
The page offers three actions: Compare this code, which opens the comparison pre-filled; save the code to your library; and open the HS Assistant to have the line explained or its limits discussed.
Saved codes
The library keeps useful codes together with their context, so the same product is not classified twice from scratch, and so a recurring product is classified the same way every time.
1Save
From a code page or from an assistant answer card, the save button opens a dialog with the code and an optional note field. The note is what makes the library useful six months later: put the product reference, the client, the file, or the reason for the choice.
2Organise
Categories, each with a free-text name and a colour of your choosing, organise the library by product family, client or file. A code can be filed into a category when saved or later, by editing the entry. Deleting a category does not delete the codes it held.
