HS Assistant
HS Assistant
Research levels, composer limits, image uploads, how to read a structured answer, and how monthly quotas and privacy work.
The HS Assistant turns a product description into proposed codes from the Moroccan customs tariff, each one justified and tied to the explanatory notes and classification rulings behind it. Open it from AI Assistant in the sidebar.
Writing a usable request
The composer accepts 5 to 200 characters. The limit is deliberate: a dense sentence outperforms a paragraph, and the same few elements decide a classification every time.
What moves a classification forward
- The constituent material: solid oak, stainless steel, polyethylene, and not "wood", "metal", "plastic".
- The function of the product and how it is used.
- How it is presented: in bulk, as a set, assembled or in parts, put up for retail sale.
- The state: raw, processed, frozen, dried.
What adds nothing
- Country of origin: it plays no part in HS classification.
- Brand and commercial reference.
- Price and quantity.
- Dimensions, unless the nomenclature itself sets a size threshold.
Too vague: HS code for a phone? The assistant has to guess, or ask.
Usable: Mobile phone with touchscreen, sold with charger and earphones in one package.
Choosing the research level
The selector to the left of the composer sets how deep the analysis goes. Levels your plan does not include appear with a padlock.
| Level | What it does | Plans |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | Quick search, an answer in seconds. Fine for ordinary, unambiguous products. | Free, Starter, Pro |
| Advanced | In-depth analysis: several search passes, weighing the candidate headings against each other. | Starter, Pro |
| Expert | Exhaustive analysis, the slowest and most thorough. For disputed or high-value cases. | Pro |
Attaching an image
One image per message, 5 MB maximum
Accepted formats: PNG, JPEG, GIF, WEBP, SVG. One file per message; PDFs and office documents are not accepted by the assistant.
An image with a line of text beats an image on its own by a wide margin: a photo shows shape, it does not state material or function. Frame the product alone against a neutral background, and make composition labels legible where they exist.
Every image sent consumes one image classification, a quota separate from requests. The Free plan does not include image classification.
Reading an answer
A classification answer always follows the same structure.
Introduction
What the assistant took from your description and how it is approaching the classification. This is where misunderstandings surface: if the material or function is wrong here, everything below it will be too.
Suggested HS codes
One card per code: the code, its justification (collapsed by default, expandable) and the references it rests on (explanatory notes, classification rulings). One button copies the code, another saves it to your library.
Several cards mean several defensible classifications, presented as alternatives: the justifications decide between them, not the display order.
Questions to narrow it down
Short questions under the answer, aimed at what is still missing. One click sends them as they are, which is the fastest route from a 4-digit heading to a full code.
Conclusion
A summary and, where relevant, the assistant's reservations: missing information, borderline heading, a pointer to the notes.
Detail table and feedback
When an answer contains codes, a table lists code, description, import duties, unit, notes and rulings for each one. The codes are clickable and open the full code page.
The thumbs under an answer open a short feedback form. That feedback drives the corrections made to the assistant.
Conversations and history
The conversations panel
History, in the top bar, opens the list of conversations, most recent first, with their state (answer ready, in progress). Clicking one resumes it with its full context; the delete icon removes a conversation permanently.
New chat starts from a blank context, which is worth doing when you switch products, so the previous description does not colour the next classification.
Retention and privacy
Under Settings → Assistant settings: the retention period (30 days, 90 days, 1 year, unlimited), past which conversations are deleted automatically, and Clear conversations, which empties the history immediately and permanently.
Model-improvement and usage-analytics options live in the same place, and under Settings → Privacy and data. They are independent of how the assistant works: turning them off does not degrade your answers.
Quotas and error messages
The counter at the top of the assistant shows requests used in the current month. Request and image quotas are monthly and counted separately.
| Message | Cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly quota used up | Every request for the month is spent (3 on Free, 300 on Starter, 1,000 on Pro). | Wait for the next period, or change plan. |
| Image classification quota used up | Image limit reached (50 on Starter, 500 on Pro). | Carry on in text, or change plan. |
| Please wait a few seconds | More than 20 messages in one minute. | Wait for the delay shown. |
| The message cannot exceed 200 characters | Description too long. | Keep only material, function and presentation. |
| File type not allowed | File outside PNG / JPEG / GIF / WEBP / SVG. | Convert it to an image; a PDF cannot be sent. |
| Higher plan required | The research level is locked on your plan. | Stay on Basic, or change plan. |
| Plan expired or inactive | Subscription interrupted or payment failed. | See Billing. |
