Chapter 44Wood and articles of wood; wood charcoal

The headings in this chapter of the AHECC, the Australian export classification published by the ABS. Each one opens on the codes it contains.

Chapter 44 runs from rough wood to wooden articles: logs, sawn wood, panels, then finished goods. The distinction used most often is between 4407, wood merely sawn or sliced, and 4409, wood continuously shaped along any edge or face.

The trap sits at the end of the chain. Once a wooden article becomes furniture designed to be placed on the floor, it belongs to Chapter 94. Builders' joinery stays at 4418, and wooden packing cases at 4415.
